Here is a proud moment for every Telugu speaking people. SVR, NTR, ANR, Savitri starer Mayabazaar has been voted the greatest Indian movie ever in a National wide poll conducted by CNN-IBN. The poll was conducted on the occasion of Indian Cinema’s 100th anniversary and by the time, the poll was closed, the film received 16,960 votes which was 23.91% of the total votes cast in the poll.
The film was directed by K V Reddy and filmed by great British Cinematographer Marcus Bartley, his trick photography in the film is considered as best ‘special effects’. The film was first released on March 27th in 1957 and a digitally remastered colour version was released in 2010. The color version also ran to packed houses. The film was produced by B Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani on their Vijaya banner.
